The Teen Health Center was established by Planned Parenthood
of Rhode Island (PPRI) in 1997 to:
- Address the high unintended pregnancy rate in Rhode Island
- Provide medically accurate sexuality education
- Offer affordable and confidential reproductive health
care in a teen friendly environment to teens 13-19 years
old
Our unique and multi-cultural Teen Health Center Team includes:
- Physicians
- Nurse Practicioner
- Medical Assistants
- Professional Educators
- Youth Peer Educators
PPRI accepts most insurance plans, including:
- Blue Cross
- United Healthcare
- Neighborhood Health Plan of Rhode Island
- RIte Care
- Cash or Credit Cards
The Teen Health Center is a Title
X Program with limited funds.
Confidential services are offered in a teen friendly environment
and include:
- Routine Gynecological (GYN) Care
- Birth Control/Contraceptive Services
- Emergency Contraception (EC)
- Pregnancy Testing and Counseling
- Screening & Treatment for Sexually Transmitted Infections
(STIs)
- HIV Testing and Counseling
- Limited Male Services
The education staff offers workshops on various topics including:
- Abstinence and healthy decision making
- Prevention of unintended pregnancies and STIs
- The female and male reproductive systems
- Safer sex practices and contraceptive methods
- Self-esteem, healthy relationships, communication and
negotiation skills
Workshops for parents and professionals working with teens
are also available.
