CHAT members receive extensive classroom training in sexual health topics as well as site visits to local social service agencies and on-the-job training. CHAT members provide information on male and female reproductive anatomy, puberty, abstinence, contraceptives, safer sex, teen pregnancy, STI/ HIV prevention, healthy relationships, male responsibility and rights of Rhode Island teens to various schools and organizations throughout Rhode Island.
The CHAT program emphasizes factual information, values and attitude assessments, communication, and decision-making skills that help teens make responsible and informed decisions about sexuality and sexual health. Workshops include interactive activities, games, role-plays and videos to encourage discussion.
CHAT members are available to present in a variety of settings including classrooms, health fairs, forums, community programs, church youth groups, teen organizations and conferences.
CHAT members also provide education during Teen Heath Center hours on Monday evenings from 2:30-5:30 pm. For more information please see the Education Calendar.
